Sorting, Sorting..... It's the macadamia harvest!
Date added: 12/05/2010

On the farm this past month we've been spending many, many hours sorting though thousands and thousands of little round macadamia nuts with their tough outer shells. After harvesting and removing the outside husk of the macadamias, we sort through the nuts in their shells up to 3 times before we consider them ready for cracking and then there's the next step of, yes, MORE sorting of the creamy kernels to remove any with insect damage, signs of germination, or blemishes. Quality is our priority to ensure that we bring you the delicious experience of top quality, fresh, crisp macadamia kernels - something you won't find in the supermarkets....

We're picking our Davidson's Plums
Date added: 25/11/2009

Our NSW variety of Davidson's Plum trees are currently laden with plums ranging from green to a deep crimson colour. We are now busily picking this unique native fruit to avoid burning by the hot northern NSW sun and before the fruit drops to the ground.

Interestingly, the Davidson's plums are produced in large clusters from the trunk. The tree is a narrow rainforest tree which grows to 10m tall, either with a single unbranched stem or several stems arising from the base. It is native to lowland subtropical rainforests of northern NSW and SE Queensland.

The Davidson's Plum is considered an endangered species in the wild, but is successfully cultivated for its pleasantly sour fruit that we use in our delicious Davidson's Plum Jam and very popular Davidson's Plum Sweet Chilli Sauce.

These new season macadamias are now available for purchase on our website - we know you'll be delighted with their freshness and flavour!
